Welcome to Term 6 of Forest School. These are some of the things that we have been up to.
Year 2 learned a little bit about habitats, building on their classroom knowledge. We found ants nests, mouse holes, bumble bee and wasps nests in our Forest School area. We remembered some of the bird names and we used bendy willow to make crowns and rings. Some children were interested in using the peelers and some liked tree climbing so we remembered the rules and children had fun.
Some chose to make a wooden spinning top, using a palm drill and a peeler/knife and secateurs. I was very impressed with their woodworking skills. They peeled some carrots and we had lots of home grown fruit and vegetables ready to be picked.
Year 2 also got to make a fire and cook popcorn , which was rather popular. Children also took part in a quiz about spiders, they learned about the life cycle, some created webs with string or paint and others preferred to create a great big mud pit.
I am looking forward to more Forest School fun in Year 3! Have a fabulous summer break.
