This morning, we were visited by 'Steve The Gardener' from The Pig for the third and final collaboration as part of this year's 'Adopt a School Programme'. Unlike previous visits where our children have attended The Pig and learnt about food seasonality in the beautiful gardens, this time Steve visited our Polytunnel in the Forest School area to do some planting with the children. Each child planted some chard in the empty beds (quite a hot exercise) before learning about how to care for the vegetable. All being well, the chard will flourish over the summer and be ready for harvesting and eating in the Autumn!
We would like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff at The Pig for three fantastic events this year, the children have learnt so much and it has been brilliant fun! We look forward to developing the programme further in coming years!
