Using inspiration from two books, Oliver’s Vegetables and Oliver’s Fruit Salad, children in Year one used their observational skills to draw from microscopic photographic images of fruit by the artist Rob Kesseler. These images are really funky and abstract. Within the lesson, the children learnt about scale and colour; they explored oil pastels (including learning how to layer and blend); they practised their observational drawing skills and through this, continued to develop their fine motor skills.

 

The next blog from Year one will be the children’s paintings of red peppers; they will then go on to make fruit salad later in the term! The children's oil pastel drawings look great. Please view our gallery below:
