Year 1 children are working towards the completion of their collages inspired by Henri Rousseau’s, SURPRISE! Their artworks will consist of a background, midground and foreground. The children will also consider layout and composition.

The Year one topic this term is toys, therefore, the children have been practising their observational skills and drawing from toy animals. These will be the focal point for the children’s collages.

As a class, we discussed Henri Rousseau’s life and paintings inspired by exotic plants and animals.
