What a sunny Autumn term we have had.
Stick man came to visit us in the first session. What could sticks be used for? The children explored ordering them by size, making boats that float, making stick people, making fishing rods and rescuing stick man from the ice, using spoons and pipets. Children also made paint from charcoal and they used sticks as paint brushes. Some children had a go at tying knots around the sticks as well.
We also raided our plum tree, which produced lots of fruit for the first time. They were very sweet and delicious.
Our second session was in the woodlands - I have written a separate blog for that trip.
The year one children only made one fire last year and I thought it would be exciting to show them how popcorn heats up and changes over the fire. We remembered the fire rules, the fire triangle (heat, fuel, oxygen) and I had lots of helpers enjoying the cooking. Some children were in charge of adding fire wood and others explored how to use a fire striker (or dragon sneeze as we call it). Have a great half term everyone and enjoy the outdoors.
