Last week, the children of Year 3 went on a study walk of Bridge, led by Mrs Vye and Mrs Whatley of the Bridge Historical Society. Prior to the walk, the children were taken on a virtual tour of the village in 1834 when the Bridge Arms was the White Horse and The Close was The Bridge Union Workhouse. This gave them a good idea of what to look out for as the ventured from school. On the walk, the children made comparisons of Bridge in 2022 to 1834 and once at the Workhouse, learnt about the initiation process and the life of a workhouse child. After returning to school, the children wrote fantastic diary entries as child entering the workhouse and drew maps of the village as it once was!
