Year 1 had fantastic Forest School sessions this week. It was all about Mini Beasts and habitats. We collected materials to build a bug hotel- maybe we will call it ‘Bug-ingham Palace’! The children even made a bug play ground.
We sang our insect song to help them remember the features of an insect as well as going on a Bug Hunt (not a bear hunt today). They pretended to be ants and worked in a colony to collect items for their nest.
Whilst moving all of the Forest School items into the new shed, I discovered a nest made by mice and I shared the exciting discovery with the children.
Following on from our learning about birds, the children could make nests with natural materials, make binoculars or build fox habitats.
