Year R had fantastic Forest School sessions this week. It was all about Mini Beasts and habitats. We collected materials to build a bug hotel- maybe we will call it ‘Bug-ingham Palace’! The children even made a bug play ground.
We sang our insect song to help them remember the features of an insect as well as going on a Bug Hunt (not a bear hunt today). They pretended to be ants and worked in a colony to collect items for their nest.
Whilst moving all of the Forest School items into the new shed, I discovered a nest made by mice and I shared the exciting discovery with the children.
Following on from our learning about birds, the children could make nests with natural materials, make binoculars or build fox habitats. Tuesday morning was so frosty that we decided to make our first fire! The children helped to set up the wood, add logs to the fire and to extinguish it at the end.
