The weather was kind to us this week which enabled us to experience the woodlands.

We listened to the sounds around us, played a game and challenged ourselves to build a tall and strong stick tower (learning that the process is more important than the product).

I told a story about where the ribbon snake got its name from and children went off to build snakes with natural materials. We also went on a nature treasure hunt, looking at features of winter and spring like bird's nests and buds.

I was amazed with what they discovered when given the time and environment. We found insects, shield bugs, worms, wood lice, centipedes, eggs etc. different types of fungi, animal poo very likely from a badger. They built fairy villages, homes and a limbo stick! As always, it is fabulous to see their enjoyment and enthusiasm when we are outside and how they are developing resilience.
