Just before the half-term holidays, Year 5 finished making their ‘Lost Thing’ abstract sculptures. The pupil’s work was inspired by Shaun Tan’s picture book ‘The Lost Thing’; their own observational drawings of natural forms and ‘not so' natural form objects and sculptures by the artists Grayson Perry, Sophie Ryder and Henry Moore.

Pupils made their ‘Lost Thing’ sculptures from clay, adding lost and found objects. They learnt clay techniques; colour theory; painted their sculptures using complementary colours; presented their work beautifully in their sketchbooks and evaluated their work at the end of the project.

The sculpture project ran in parallel with work completed within their English and Writing lessons; it is all displayed beautifully in the Year 5 corridor.
