Cold but exciting times!
The Year 1 children got to experience an afternoon outside in the icy conditions - we spotted some exciting footprints in the snow and they guessed which animals they were from. We had squirrels and different birds visiting and the children left food for them to help them survive.
To keep us warm, the children chopped some oranges and apples, mixed those with star anise and apple juice (you can add cinnamon sticks too) which we heated over the fire and then enjoyed our mulled apple juice.
The children also learned about the fire triangle - fuel, heat and oxygen. We experimented what would happen, if we put a class over a burning candle and discussed which element would be taken away.
Anyone for a slice of ice pizza or frozen smoothie?
