Year R had their first Art lesson today! The children explored my collection of insects (in resin) and peacock feathers. To start the lesson, pupils looked closely at the creepy crawlies and discussed them. How many legs do the insects have? Which have wings? Can you see their eyes?

We encouraged them to look carefully at the shapes within the insects bodies and draw from their observations. This was a great way for the children to explore art media; practise their fine motor skills; interpret the world around them and communicate their observations expressively through Art.
