'Worms are thin,
and they've got a little grin.
We love worms so much,
We don't know where to begin!'
Over the past few weeks we have been exploring animal poetry to link with our science learning about different animals. We began by reading and analysing the poem 'Snails' by Gareth Lancaster before moving on to Sentence Stacking our own class poem about worms! To get us thinking about our wriggly friends we (with the help of Mrs Pearman) woke the worms up in our forest school area by stomping on the ground and then went digging! We found lots of worms and posed for pictures before placing them back in their homes and heading back into the classroom full of exciting vocabulary to use in our poems!
We are now moving onto our independent writing week where the children will get the opportunity to write a poem about their pet/favourite animal!
