Year 6 have been practising their observational drawing skills and working from cultural objects from around the world. The objects included masks from Africa and Indonesia as well as puppets from South-East Asian countries. Within our gallery below you will see Year 6 pupils' large (A2) observation colour chalk pastel drawings. The pastels are incredibly hard to use! Pupils began by carefully observing the objects and sketching them with charcoal on the large piece of paper. They then added the colour pastel. The techniques used included smudging, layering colours, adding shadow without using the black chalk pastel and using a rubber to add highlights.
The work will be cut out when put on display as it is incredibly hard not to smudge the white background when working. Excellent artwork year 6 – you rose to the challenge again!
