This week in Year 6 we have been looking at 'The Arrival' by Shaun Tan - a graphic novel which illustrates the journey of a man who must leave his family to seek a better life for them in a new, unfamiliar land. This made us consider what it might be like for people who are forced to leave their homes to find better futures. We used the text to create poems from the images depicting the main characters departure.
The character arrives in a new world - hard for him to understand. In our Art lessons, pupils have created strange and unfamiliar landscapes inspired by Shaun Tan's illustrations. They used one-point perspective to give their landscapes depth and used a range of pencil tones and techniques.
