Over the past two terms, several children from years 3 to 6 have been learning to play Bat and Trap.

A bat and trap game is played between two teams with up to eight players on each team. One team bats first while the other team bowls and then teams switch roles after the first innings. While batting, the ball is placed on one end of the trap, and the player hits the other side to propel the ball upwards. The bowling team then need to roll the ball back at a trap which swings down if struck. If the trap is hit then the batter is out.

Tuesday was the last day of the club and several staff members were challenged to a game by the children who have been practicing over the past two terms.

The children were up to bat first and managed to score 31 runs which is a brilliant score and shows how much they have improved since the first club session.

The Bridge staff were up next and even though they had only had one practice on the trap each, were able to score 32 runs!

We all enjoyed the game and the ‘bat and trap children’ look forward to a rematch next year!
