Within Art this year, Year R have been practising their drawing and making skills; they have explored a broad range of art media and tools and have been developing their fine motor skills. Pupils have also been working on their observational skills.
It is important that young children begin to look, interpret and communicate the world around them through their drawing (and painting).
To further practice their observational skills, all the pupils in Year R have been painting pot plants (mainly cacti) on A3 paper. They have considered the shape and form of the plants in front of them; mixed their own secondary and tertiary paint colours; used large and small paint brushes (depending on the job) and have added chalk pastel details to their paintings. The pupils were encouraged to carefully observe the plants while they worked.
