Last week, we took a small group of Year 1 and 2 pupils to the Turner Contemporary gallery in Margate. We had a tour around the current exhibition and took part in a sensory workshop. The activities planned by staff at the gallery were along the theme of game, adventure and travel.

After a warm welcome, we started the morning by enjoying a short trip up in their very large lift! We then had a ‘mini tour' around the exhibition, Wayfinder: Larry Achiampong & JMW Turner (curated by Larry Achiampong, a British Ghanaian artist). We saw many Turner paintings depicting the local coast – Year 2 have been studying Turner this term. After seeing the exhibition, we took part in the sensory activity - the pupils were asked to create a landscape from objects.

As part of Larry Achiampong’s exhibition, he created a Gaming Room. We gave the children time to enjoy playing the computer games before having our lunch in the sunshine outside and enjoying the views of Margate beach.

It was a lovely morning and the children were a credit to the school. Thank you to Mr Taylor, Ms Munday and Miss Harvey.
