‘the monster’
Outside the walls of the village in the dim and the dark there stalked an enemy from hell itself, the monster, the sworn enemy of God and men alike, a beast born of evil and shame. He heard the wondrous story of God’s good creation, and because it was good it was hateful to his ears. He heard the joyous laughter echoing through the village. Nothing had ever enraged this beast as much as this. It was more than his evil heart could bear. He had to end the happiness so he could rule the village. A tragedy happened…
A great and terrible grief darkened the land, banishing all happiness, all hope. The monster now ruled.
Using the passage above as inspiration, Year 5 pupils in school have designed and made grotesque and very scary monster clay heads.
Each pupil made an armature (structure) using aluminium foil and wire. They then moulded clay around it to form a head shape. They considered the form of the 3D head and the position of the features on the face. Pupils used the blending technique to add clay features and added string and wire to describe details (such as hair).
We had a wonderful but terrifying day! Please check out the gallery below.
