On Wednesday 11th November, Year 6 were very fortunate to be able to attend a special Remembrance Service led by Reverend Estella at St Mary’s Church in Patrixbourne. We read prayers and thought of local soldiers who fought in the war. Year 6 also created reflective haikus to read at the service. Please read a selection of these moving poems below:

Moved by tragic gore,

They fell on the cold, wet floor,

Poppies cry aloud. - Ellie

Civilians killed,

Soldiers fighting for freedom,

We are inspired. - George

You lie in trenches,

Writing through tears of worry,

Hoping all will end. - Hannah

Death struck the soldiers,

Sadness and despair filled our hearts,

Poppies grow in honour. - Alicja
