This morning Year One welcomed Lauren, from Zoolab, with some of her friends. We met a giant African land snail, a corn snake, a rat, a white tree frog and a scorpion. We loved holding the snail and cockroach, and stroking the snake and the rat. Lauren was impressed that we were able to tell her each animals classification (mammal, invertebrate or reptile) and whether they were omnivores, carnivores or herbivores. But Lauren is an expert so she was able to teach us so much more!

Our favourite facts included:

Giant African snails grow to the size of a football.

Snakes smell with their tongues.

White tree frogs have sticky pads on their feet so that they can climb trees.

Rats use their tails to help them balance.
