Year 4 had a fantastic trip to the Dover Museum where we learnt all about Romans. The day started with a clay work shop where we all made a Roman soldier. We learnt that they were not allowed facial hair and had to have ear protectors in case their ears got sliced off in battle! The next activity was drama and we enacted a battle scene, how to build a camp and also pretended that we were at a market buying things like wine, bread and jewellery. After lunch we explored the Bronze Age Boat Gallery and also visited the shop. We all had a lovely time and learnt so much.We can begin our topic armed with lots of new knowledge.

The best part of today was making the clay Roman soldiers because we got to find out how to make our own.
My favourite part of the day was walking through the Bronze Age museum and modelling with clay.
I enjoyed the drama because we could pretend to be Romans and build forts and roads.
I enjoyed the drama too because I got to become a Roman and I learnt that doing drama isn’t just about talking and your actions are involved too.
Did you know that the Bronze Age boat was buried a tall man deep?
Did you know that the boat was buried thousands of years ago?
SALVE means hello in Latin.
Roman soldiers were not allowed facial hair.
The best part of today was making Roman soldiers with clay. I found it fun and enjoyed the gallery.

Thank you, Theo had a great day. We had a huge conversation about it at dinner time as Saffron had done the trip last year and I had accompanied the class on the trip when Charlie (now 18) and Amy (now 20) went when they were at Bridge school, they all shared their favourite bits of what they’d all learnt.
