Today Year 4 had a great time making bread as part of our Science. A few weeks ago we investigated how yeast makes bread rise by putting sugar, yeast and hot water into a lemonade bottle. We put a balloon over the top and watched it blow up with carbon dioxide! It was amazing to see. We then decided that it would be great to make bread. Today we mixed all of the dry ingredients and added warm water. We spent some time kneading the dough, shaping it and then waiting for it to prove. This is the finished product which we cannot wait to take home and enjoy! Next week we are looking forward to baking cakes.

Today in Science we made bread to show how the three states of matter are involved in the cooking process. When the bread is in the oven the yeast makes it rise. We had to knead the dough for 10 minutes and the we proved it for 1 hour. Today was amazing!
