Yesterday, we took one child from each class (Years 1-6) to Rochester Cathedral to see the awe-inspiring 'Peace Doves' installation by Peter Walker. Walking through through the door of the cathedral was a proper 'wow!' moment! We then had an informative workshop with Alf from the cathedral, who explained that there are 15,000 doves and each has a personal message facing upwards to God, written by visitors to the cathedral since August 2022. After the workshop, we had a tour of the cathedral which involved the children re-enacting a baptism and getting to dress up as various religious figures. The children enjoyed themselves and asked some fantastic questions throughout the visit. It was also lovely to see our own 'Peace Dove' display celebrated amongst other school's inside the cathedral!
