On the weekend of 26th February, Iris (Year 4) travelled to Sheffield with Stewart Bristow and his team to play in a tournament against players from around the UK. Iris was the youngest player there and, after the first day of play, qualified for the main draw. She then gained a place in the Quarter Finals but, unfortunately, didn't go through so then played in the knockout draws to determine her final placing in the tournament. She is now placed within the top 10 player rankings for the whole of the UK! This a tremendous achievement and we are all very proud of Iris.

Jack (School Council member, Year 4) interviewed Iris to find out more and Tom P (Year 4) assisted with note-taking:

Jack: How long did it take to drive to Sheffield?

Iris: It took about 5 and a half hours.

Jack: Were you nervous?

Iris: At the start of the competition I was nervous, but then I started to calm down.

Jack: Was it tough playing against the older players?

Iris: It sometimes was hard because they were overall stronger.

Jack: When you won, how did you feel?

Iris: When I won, I felt proud and happy because I did the best I've ever done.

Jack: Did you achieve your goal?

Iris: Yes, I did!

We hope to hear more good news soon!
