On Tuesday 27th January, six of our Year 6 pupils visited Canterbury Academy to take part in an exciting multi-sports session — and what a busy and energetic day it was.

The first activity was boccia, where pupils worked in teams to throw balls as close as possible to a target. It was a great test of accuracy and teamwork, and the competition quickly became lively. The children then took part in seated balloon volleyball, learning how the sport is played inclusively by people with physical disabilities. This was a particularly thoughtful and engaging session that helped pupils appreciate how sport can be adapted so everyone can take part.

Next came cricket skills, with multiple turns at batting while teammates fielded, followed by archery, where pupils practised their aim using bows and arrows. Boxing skills were also on the programme, beginning with skipping warm-ups and moving on to supervised pad work to build technique and coordination.

The final activity was badminton, where pupils worked in pairs and put their developing racket skills into practice in friendly matches across the net.

It was a fantastic opportunity to try a wide range of sports, build confidence, and work together in new teams.

We would like to thank Mr Taylor for driving and Mrs Coral and Mrs Langston for supporting and organising the visit.

A brilliant effort from everyone involved — and no shortage of tired legs the next day!
