On Tuesday 20th January, six of our Year 6 pupils travelled to Canterbury Academy to take part in an exciting badminton workshop.

After arriving, we waited patiently while the Year 7 and 8 sports leaders set up a range of activity stations, a great reminder that good things really do come to those who wait. Once equipped with rackets, we got straight into action, starting and finishing with match play to test our skills and see how much we improved during the session.

In between matches, we rotated around several skill focused stations. These included developing our serving technique, learning how to consistently hit the shuttlecock over the net, and taking part in a fast paced game called Lose a Life, where a missed shot meant sitting out. Let’s just say concentration levels were high.

After a well earned break and a motivating pep talk from Mrs Radford, we headed into the final games full of confidence and put our new skills to very good use. The day ended on a high as our pupils took on, and beat, Mrs Radford along with the Year 7 and 8 players. Champions behaviour all round.

A huge thank you to Mrs Radford for organising and leading the trip, and to Mr Taylor for driving us there and back. A fantastic sporting experience, and proof that Year 6 really know how to bring their A game.
