Welcome to Year 4
Year 4 is an exciting and important stage of Key Stage 2. The children continue to grow in independence and confidence, taking on new challenges both in and out of the classroom.
A key focus for this year is multiplication, as pupils prepare for the statutory Multiplication Tables Check (MTC). We place great emphasis on developing quick recall of times tables, as this underpins so much of their mathematical learning and helps build strong problem-solving skills.
Beyond the classroom, Year 4 enjoy a range of memorable experiences. One of the highlights of the year is the trip to the Creed Outdoor Learning Centre, where children work together to tackle team challenges, build resilience, and develop leadership skills. In the summer term, pupils also take part in a series of swimming lessons, giving them the opportunity to gain confidence in the water and acquire an essential life skill.
Throughout the year, we also continue to nurture children’s personal, social, and emotional development, ensuring they become positive, responsible, and resilient learners. By the end of Year 4, pupils are well-prepared to continue their journey through Key Stage 2 with a strong foundation of skills and experiences.
Year 4 is a year of challenge, discovery, and growth – a chance for children to flourish both academically and personally.
