A big thank you to Creative Folkestone for running an Art workshop for Birch class this week. The children worked with two local artists, Emily and Naomi, who delivered the workshop: Portraiture.
The children began the morning by looking at and discussing images of a range of self-portraits by various artists. The class’s first task (on a large roll of paper) was to each draw a self-portrait from memory and imagination. As you can imagine, these were quite wild! In pairs they then went on to trace each other’s images (faces) – this was to highlight the contrast between the two drawings – imagination and figurative. The children were then given the free-reign of art materials to respond in 3D.
Another wonderful morning! Thank you to Emily, Naomi, Tania and to all the adults involved in the trip. Hazel class will be visiting Creative Folkestone in February.
