We have had a very adventurous Forest School Term with Year 3. Here are some of the things the children have been up to. They went on a scavenger hunt for natural materials, built fairy houses for the queen and king, created bows and arrows, picked sunflower seeds and enjoyed the slack line.
They learned about simple and compound leaf structures, used a mallet, fabric and flowers/leaves to create HAPA ZOME printings (April and Kosmos were the masters of this art) and Angus made a rocket launcher. Jack, Henry and Charlie independently watered and looked after the polytunnel, also picking potatoes and raspberries. Fearne loved identifying birds with the bird app.
Potion making week was magical like Charlie's marvellous medicine. They used their imagination as to what the ingredients could be - oats were witches' flakes. Sylvie used baking soda which made the lid pop off in a spectacular fashion.
We talked about what makes us happy, made stick people with cardboard and Gurjot and Carson loved exploring the new laplanders. Fearne found a caterpillar and Esther worked very hard over two weeks to finish her conker car!
We played some teamwork games, learned facts about Horse Chestnut trees, used palm drills and saws and planted lots of conkers.
Our last week had a halloween theme - we played the bat game, made bats with cardboard and leaves, decorated log slices, Sadie loved finding mushrooms, made magical potions with mint and wands.
So much exploration and independence happening this term! Enjoy your break.
