Linked with their science topic taught early in the academic year, Year One has been observing and drawing insects (in resin) this week. Before putting pencils to paper, we recapped on their science vocabulary - insect anatomy.
The children started by studying and observing the insects very carefully. Using pencil, they lightly sketched the simple shapes of the insect before adding detail. Pupils matched their colour pencils to the colours found in the insects. On the edge of their pages, they tested their colours and experimented with layering them together. Great for observation, concentration and refining fine motor skills.
The pupils were fully immersed in the activity and we are really impressed with the outcomes. Well done Year one!
