On Monday 2nd March, Bridge & Patrixbourne CEP School paid host to fifteen trainee teachers from Japan. This is an annual visit for the school as part of Chaucer College's link with Shumei Univeristy.
At the beginning of the day, they met with Mr TIbbles and Mrs Perfect and then joined the children in the school hall where they were welcomed with song from the whole school and a further performance from our school choir.
Our Japanese visitors then performed a Japanese folk tale, Hanasaka Jiisan (花咲か爺さん), to the children which earned them a resounding round of applause.
They then spent the morning observing and joining in lessons in Years 4, 5 and 6 before running some workshops for the Year 3 students in the afternoon to teach them a little about Japanese culture.
Everyone had a very enjoyable day and our visits commented upon how respectful our children were, how well they sang and how well the Year 3 children engaged in the afternoon workshops.
