As part of the climate change days, Year 3 worked very hard and helped to build a willow dome on the field. They have been learning about the effects of deforestation and the importance of trees. We thought it would be good to show that we can help the planet by planting trees.

We cut willow rods from our existing dome with loppers and carried them down. We used weed membrane to suppress the grass in order for the willow to have a better chance of growing.

The children had to use a lot of muscles to make the holes in the ground with a metal rod and a mallet. We then pushed the rods quite far into the ground. Luckily for the willow, it has been raining quite a lot, which gives it good chances of growing.

Well done Year 3!
