Maria Hotham

I would be delighted to serve as a Parent Governor at Bridge School, where my daughter Penny is a pupil in Y1. I care deeply about our school community and want every child to feel safe, included, and able to thrive.

I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience supporting children, young people, and families. I bring specialist knowledge of child development, emotional well-being, mental health, and SEND, including autism, ADHD, and learning differences. I regularly work alongside schools and parents to find practical solutions and remove barriers to learning.

Safeguarding is central to my role, and I am used to handling complex situations with care, confidentiality, and accountability. I listen carefully, weigh different perspectives, and make evidence-based decisions.

As a family, we enjoy beekeeping and sharing it with children, encouraging curiosity about nature and sustainability.

Above all, I'd be an approachable, thoughtful governor, offering both support and constructive challenge. I would be proud to support Bridge in helping every child flourish.

Carly Richards

I’m mum to a Year One child and have a child in nursery. I am keen to be appointed as a Parent Governor and would welcome the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the school community and support its continued success. I can bring skills and perspectives to the governing body that would help strengthen its effectiveness and contribute to positive outcomes for pupils, staff, and families. I am a committed, caring and conscientious individual with the capacity and enthusiasm to dedicate time to this role.

Having spent over 20 years working in a highly regulated industry, I have extensive experience leading teams and managing complex operational environments. Throughout my career, I have developed skills in strategic thinking, people leadership, relationship management, policy implementation, budget management, and performance delivery. I am curious, analytical, and solutions-focused, with the ability to assess challenges objectively and make informed decisions.

I would act as a constructive and supportive critical friend to the school, drawing on both my professional experience and my perspective as a parent. Since joining the school I have created friendships and relationships with other parents, across various year groups.

I currently volunteer as a committee member for a CIO nursery. This role has strengthened my interest and demonstrated the positive impact that committed governors can have on an organisation. Becoming a Parent Governor would provide an opportunity for me to make a meaningful and lasting contribution to my children's school as they continue their educational journey.
