Year 1 has been very busy in term 3, learning lots of new skills.

January was extremely wet - this did not stop year 1 from having fun though. We played an animals game and learned a little bit about mammals. We tried out the Kelly Kettle for the first time and drank hot squash on a cold day, with children learning how to light the fire, how to feed it and also extinguish it.

Our second session was all about birds - we read the book 'owl babies', made apple bird feeders with seeds (they were all gone a week later!) and learned some bird names. Some of the children worked extremely hard to bring woodchip up to the Forest School in wheelbarrows to make it less muddy!

Our last session was all about worms- children learned facts such as the fat part is called the saddle that shows that the worm is an adult. We read a diary worm book, climbed trees, explored the mud kitchen and don't forget about the puddle jumping!
