This term in Forest School the children learned a little bit more about insects, playing an ant game which was all about team work and carrying items, learning how to use spades and showing good understanding of the Forest School rules. Caterina and Lorcy built an electric motorbike from natural materials, linking in with their class learning; Lukas built natural train tracks and Zara and Ivy built a car. We had some keen gardeners Jake and Albert were raking and watering and Leila, Gabrielle and Omi enjoyed planting bulbs which will hopefully come up every year again.
We read the 'Tree' book and learned about the seasons, went on a spring hunt, planted wildflower seeds, made birds' nests, enjoyed the toy birds, explored the area and went bug hunting (Teddy was our insect hunting champion). We also thought about which animals live in our woodlands and learned a little bit about bees and how they dance to communicate.
Our hammer was our first tool this year and children made some bees and ladybirds with log slices and nails.
Have a lovely Easter break
