Year 6 have been lucky to be some of the first children to explore our newly opened pond. We have been pond dipping, learning about dragonflies, nymphs, waterboatmen and water beetles.

Children have learned how to knot a clove hitch and they used this knot to make bows and arrows. They learned about willow  plants and its properties and used this to make platters and other creations. Please see a different post about our woodland trip.

Year 6 learned about simple, compound and palmate leaves and I challenged them to make a tripod with a new knot they learned. Some children made pulleys for the tree, others played our new cubbs game in Forest School. We made a fire and cooked apple slices with cinnamon and sugar.

Forest school takes a lot of energy and help to upkeep and Year 6 did a great job helping to maintain it - splitting wood, pulling out  old wildflowers to use as kindling and moving bark chip and soil.  Children also used conkers and tools to for some creative craft. There was a lot of nature connection going on and it was wonderful to watch.
