As part of the Canterbury Festival, Bridge and Patrixbourne CEP have been invited by Mark Saich to contribute to his Artists’ Open House event in October. We are very privileged to be working with Canterbury College's, Level 3, Year 2 Art and Design students to create 3D installations that will be part of the woodland trail.
Last week, fifteen Bridge students from Year 5 and 6 attended the second of two workshops at Canterbury College. This time, we visited the college’s 3D studio and were led by Luke Goffrey (Programme Director of Level 3 Art and Design).
Working one to one with the Level 3 students, Bridge children pressed natural forms (found in Walderchain Wood) into clay to make moulds; casts were then made by carefully pouring in plaster of Paris. Once set, the casts were painted with black and white acrylic paint. The children each made a cast to take home and a number of smaller casts to be assembled into an artwork for the woodland trail. Thank you to Luke, Fraser and the Level 3 students; we had another fantastic morning!
The level 3 students are also working on their own individual pieces, these will also be displayed at the Artists’ Open House alongside our Bridge school project.
The Artists' Open House and woodland trail will be at Woodland Farm, Walderchain, Denton, CT4 6NS (near Barham) and open on the following weekends:
19th / 20th October
26th / 27th October
We would love for you to come along and support us.
