After an excited and early start, Year 5 set off for their Bushcraft adventure at Penshurst Place this morning. We were greeted by our camp leaders and led to our camp. After learning some of the basics we got straight on with our first activity, building fires in our tribes. This was important as it allowed us to cook our first meal which was burgers. After this we designed our tribal flags and used the charcoal from the fire to face paint ourselves.
This afternoon, we have been learning wilderness fist aid and all children now know the recovery position. We are soon going to learn the anatomy of a salmon and how it is prepared before tucking into some cottage pie for dinner. It will then be time for birthday cake and a sing song by the fire and then into tents for our first night under canvas.
