This week, a group of fifteen Year 3 pupils took part in an Art workshop led by Louise Mayell, an art practitioner from The University For The Creative Arts (UCA); the event was kindly hosted by Pilgrims’ Way School.
Within the workshop, the children took inspiration from the colourful sculptures of Frank Stella, exploring his use of contrasting colour, pattern and shape. They created large colourful shapes and then worked in groups with Pilgrims’ Way pupils to create card sculptures. Before leaving the children took time to draw their group sculptures from observation.
It was lovely to see pupils from both schools working so well together; fabulous team work and problem solving! It was also a privilege to work with artist, Louise Mayell.
Thank you to the UCA and Pilgrims’ Way. We all had a great morning making art.
