On Wednesday 18th March, eight children from Years 5 and 6 represented the school in a Quick Sticks hockey tournament, demonstrating determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the day.
The team began with a closely contested match against Blean, narrowly losing 3-2 despite a strong performance. Undeterred, they finished second in their group, securing a place in the quarter-finals.
From there, the team went from strength to strength. A dominant 5-0 victory in the quarter-finals saw them progress confidently into the semi-finals. In a thrilling match, they staged an impressive comeback from 2–1 down to win 3–2, earning their place in the final.
In the final, the team faced Boughton and, although they fought hard, were ultimately defeated. Finishing as runners-up overall is a fantastic achievement, and the team now progresses to the regional competition representing Canterbury.
We are incredibly proud of their effort, sportsmanship and perseverance throughout the tournament.
A special thank you goes to Mr Wren for coaching the team and to Mrs McInnes and Mr Taylor for supporting with transport.
