On Tuesday 10th February, ten determined Year 4 pupils headed to Simon Langton Boys’ School for what turned out to be an unforgettable football tournament.

After a quick warm-up (with Ethan bravely facing a barrage of shots in goal!), the team kicked off against Selling. It was a tense opener — Carson came agonisingly close, and despite earning a late free kick, the match ended 0–0.

Next up were St Stephen’s, a team sponsored by the Premier League and tipped to be tough opposition. But our players rose to the challenge magnificently. Superb goals from Nilan, Charlie and Jack, alongside outstanding defensive work from Isla, secured a brilliant 2–0 victory.

After a well-earned snack break, the momentum continued. A 2–0 win over Wincheap followed, with Darvin making a crucial clearance to deny a certain goal. The team then faced unbeaten Blean — but goals from Effie and Tilly, combined with resolute defending, saw another fantastic result. A hard-fought draw against Sheldwich, including a vital save from Henry, rounded off the group stages.

Expecting a mid-table finish, the team were stunned — and thrilled — to be announced as tournament winners!

Huge thanks to Mr Taylor and Mrs McCoy for accompanying the team, and to Mrs Langsdon for organising such a brilliant opportunity. What a performance!
