Our annual Moving Up Day is an important part of preparing children for the new academic year.
On this day, our Year 6 pupils will be attending their transition days at their new secondary schools. At the same time, children in Reception through to Year 5 will spend the majority of the school day with their new class teacher and teaching assistant, getting to know their new classroom, routines and classmates ahead of September.
Children should arrive at school as normal and will be welcomed by their current class teacher before moving to their new classroom for most of the day. Towards the end of the afternoon, they will return to their current classroom to finish the school day in the usual way.
Moving Up Day helps children feel more confident and excited about the year ahead. It provides an opportunity to meet new teachers, ask questions and begin building relationships in a familiar and supportive environment. We know from previous years that this experience makes a real difference in helping children make a positive and successful start in September.
